This won't be a popular thread on here, so I'll keep my response short and sweet. Have been a Phish Phan since the 90's, always loved their energy/creativity/CDs/shows.

Hats off to Phish for returning to the scene and giving us fans three really solid shows (more to come this summer -- I'll be at 4 of them). I was not there obviously, but I did DL the high quality mp3's of each show on their website. Tremendous energy, musicianship, solidness and simply amazing for being away that long. Listening to the first song of the first night, the energy of the crowd and the first notes elevated me to a place I have not been in a while, hair stood up, tears, the whole nine yards. When they started playing Fluffhead, I knew instantly Phish was back and for good reasons. I'm happy for them.

Bottom line, if ya enjoy Phish's music, go grab the 3 shows, fire up some old ones, salvage some tics for this summer and be Grateful they are back. If you don't like them, who gives a shit, for each their own -- go friggin crank this sucker up, LOUD:

Hey Jeremy, I've never heard a Phish tune. I'd like to get something on my iPod. Where'e the best place to go for an internet download? Is it the recent shows? Which one?

Hey brother, thanks for chiming in, nice to see you on here.

Go to http://phish.com/fromtheroad2009/ From there you can click the bottom of each show, I would grab the first night, see what you think. The other two are fine also.

Here's the direct link:

Still -

Thanks for the links. I checked them out - a bit halting in places, but I have to admit, I probably would have cast my vote with my buddies that enjoyed the show. Kind of reminds me of their sound back in '97-'98 just as they kicked off a new tour. Raw and raggedy, but nothing a little time on the pond won't knock the rough edges off.

Looks like I'll have to swallow my pride and hit one of the summer shows.

three shows, no repeats! i think they could easily return to peak form.... but i think they should take a tip from the DEAD and actually pare down the repertoire, get rid of some of the tunes that are just not happening and really focus on the shape of the overall set -- the second set from 3/7, at least the first 4 tunes ROCK & ROLL>LIMB BY LIMB>GHOST>PIPER were absolutely OFF THE HOOK!

that is THE ENERGY i used to love... (honestly, i have never heard these tunes before but this was the height of the three shows for me.... i mostly saw them 91-95.)

runaway jim

cheers man, i am just figuring you are a fan. sorry if i got it wrong......

and peel my fingers off the rim
I come unglued while in mid-air

Your description matches what 2 of my 5 friends who went came back with. The other three were hard core P Heads and came back underwhelmed.

Entirely possible that each group convinced themselves before hand that they were going to have a superb time or shitty time - and got what they wanted.

I was so pissed at how commercial and robotic they were at the end, I took a pass on this one. I may rethink my obstinance and try to catch one of the shows later this year.

I went to all 3 and don't know the band well, but it was a lot of fun. I had a blast! The Kimock shows afterwards were great. Saturday's Kimock show was packed during the first set (I think people thought set break was the end of the show and cleared out). Kimock finished sometime around 5-5:30 am. On Sunday, people couldn't give away tickets outside. I guess people were too worn out from the weekend.

Both of those Kimock shows will be available for free download beginning March 12th at www.livedownloads.com/kimock according to the woman working the merchandise table.

The Fairfield, Ct venue is really small (holds aprox. 200 people), that would be a great intimate show to catch.
I may head down for that,I still have family in Ct.
